Evolution of Heavy Metals in Marsh Areas under Rice Farming

چکیده
25 Total and EDTA-extractable concentrations of Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn in rice-farming 26 soils and their distribution in the profile depth were evaluated. The temporal variability of 27 metal concentrations in the superficial horizon was studied during 1991-1995. Results show 28 that the highest metal concentrations correspond to Zn, Pb, and Cu, for total and EDTA29 extractable fraction. In general, heavy metals showed an accumulation in soil surface, except 30 for Co and Ni that have their highest values in the deeper horizons. pH and organic matter 31 were the key parameters that regulate the distribution of metals in these soils. All the studied 32 metals were significantly correlated with available P, N, and sand textural fraction. The study 33 of the temporal evolution of these metals shows that the most significant variations 34 correspond to Cd, Cu, Ni, and Zn. Although Cd shows an increase, Cu and Zn tend to 35 decrease in these soils. 36 37 38

Background and purpose: Water and soil pollution with heavy metals are among serious ever-growing environmental problems. Human activity accounts for much of the poisonous metals and results in increases soil pollution. There are many factors related to soil and plants properties and environmental issues. Release of heavy metal into food chain in critical densities has harmful metabolic and phy...
متن کاملA systematic and meta-analysis review of heavy metals pollution, toxicity potential, ecological and biological risk in surface sediments of Mahshahr and Imam Khomeini port estuaries (Coastal areas of Khuzestan province)
Coastal areas including the estuaries of Persian Gulf are sensitive and fragile areas of aquatic ecosystems in Iran that are severely affected by pollution from urbanization, industrialization, and maritime activity. Despite numerous studies on the status of pollution, especially heavy metals in these areas, comprehensive and systematic studies on this subject have not been conducted. Therefore...
متن کاملStudy of the concentration of Arsenic, Cadmium and lead heavy metals in different types of domestic and imported Rice of Iran
Background & Aims of the Study: Soil and water pollution with heavy metals is considered one of the most important environmental tensions for plants. These metals can endanger human life through food chain. Rice is one of the high consumption type of grains in the world that is widely seen in the diet of people. Thus present research seeks to study the rate of Arsenic, Cadmium and Lead in diffe...

Background and purpose: Heavy metals and their health and environmental side effects are major complications threatening food safety. Rice is one of the popular foods among people that could be contaminated by heavy metals. In this paper, Cr, Cd, and Pb concentrations were evaluated in three varieties of rice: Jamshid, Hashemi, and Mosa Tarom in Astaneh-Ashrafieh, Gilan province, Iran. Mater...

A greenhouse experiment has been planned for this study to delineate the benefits of two types of rice husk biochars (namely B300 and B600 which are prepared at 300°C and 600°C, respectvely) and coal fly ash (CFA), as soil amendments, for decreasing the amount of some heavy metals (like Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr, and Cu) as well as mobility and phytoavailability in an artificially-calcareous multi-element...
